One Hex of a Wedding by Yasmine Galenorn

This is the fifth and final book in the Chintz 'n' China mystery series and, as you can probably guess, ends with a wedding. Awww, so sweet. lol Good series.
Emerald O'Brien is about to tie the knot with her fiance, Joe, but one uninvited guest to their engagement party reminds her that some ties still need to be severed. Her ex-hubby, Roy, can't hold his liquor - or his temper - and after brawling with Joe, he threatens to ruin their wedding.
When Joe is wounded by a gunshot the next day, Roy becomes the prime suspect. Emerald knows her ex has a mean streak a mile wide but doesn't believe he'd be capable of attempted murder. And when a sinister presence starts stalking her maid of honor, Em begins to worry that her marriage has been cursed before she's even walked down the aisle...
A character in this book shares the same name as a coworker of mine and I'm wondering if this semi-local (Bellevue, Wa) author ran a character naming contest that Melissa won. I'll have to remember to ask.

Working in a bakery, I deal with a few allergy related issues, sesame seeds being the major issue in my department, but I hear a lot more about allergy related things over on the bread side. So while I've thought about people living with a major allergy, I never thought about some of the side effects to the other people in their lives. I'm also curious if this is really true and can actually happen: in the book, Emerald's daughter, Miranda, has a life-threatening allergy to seafood so the only time Emerald eats seafood is when she's eating out and she makes sure to rinse her mouth and brush her teeth before kissing her daughter. Could just kissing someone after eating a pb&j sandwich really kill someone with a peanut allergy?
A curious mind wants to know! ;)

I have heard that if the allergy is severe enough, that is entirely plausible. Scary, isn't it?

Very much so. I never would have even thought about that even if I knew someone had an allergy for something I eat.
