Proper grammar?

I usually use Microsoft Word to type my book reports, saving them on my computer and then copying them into my journal. The spell-checker has a problem with a sentence structure. This is what I wrote:

"She begins to uncover clues that lead her to a growing list of suspects, including a few whom Angel never thought could have committed such crimes."

According the the spelling checker, the grammar rule states: The form of the marked pronoun needs to reflect its function in your sentence
Instead of: They want to hire I.
Consider: They want to hire me.
Instead of: Them are the happiest boys on Earth.
Consider: They are the happiest boys on Earth.
Instead of: Us campers went home when it snowed.
Consider: We campers went home when it snowed.

So when I asked it to change the sentence to proper English grammar, this is what I got:

"She begins to uncover clues that lead she to a growing list of suspects, including a few whom Angel never thought could have committed such crimes."

I've reread these two sentences and I still think the first one is right! You could take the word out completely without a problem: "She begins to uncover clues that lead to a growing list of suspects, including a few whom Angel never thought could have committed such crimes." but to me the second (proper grammar) sentence doesn't make sense.

I guess it's another Microsoft Office glitch like the Cheap Spellchecker joke:

Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.
Eye have run this poem threw it
I am shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.
