Yes, I have low will power when it comes to resisting the urge to buy books!

While we were down in Los Angeles, Mom had finished all the cozy mysteries I had brought with me and wanted to go to the bookstore to find something to read on the way home. She wanted to go, not me. I still had 6 books with me that I hadn't read yet.
So I picked up Killer Hair by Ellen Byerrum which had been recommended to me awhile back. After finishing it, she tells me I have to get the next one in the series right away for her to read.
Today I picked up books 2 - 5 in the series and she's already started book 2!
But while I was browsing in Murder by the Book, I came across an author I've read whose trade paperback title is not one that I recognized.
Advanced Reading Copy, Not For Sale
The Book of Old Houses
A Home Repair is Homicide
Sarah Graves, author of Trap Door
What would you do if a long-buried book was unearthed from the foundation of your 1823 fixer-upper - a book with your name written inside in blood? That's the mystery Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree faces in the midst of her latest renovations. But it's only the first in a cozy Maine town better known for it's scenic views and historic homes than its body count. Now Jake is putting aside her hammer and fixing to find someone who may have found the blueprint for the perfect murder.
Due out in Hardcover on Dec. 26, 2007
Yeah, you guessed it. I couldn't resist! :)

So you got a not-yet-released book? That is so cool! I really liked that first book we read from the series.

My friend jandyle is starting a book recommendation community -- a_reading_room -- that is meant to be kept small as to not overtake anyone's f-list. Just a place to post about books you've recently read (in brief) and get recommendations from others, so if you are interested in belonging to Yet Another Book community, let me know and I'll have her approve your membership. It's open to friends and friends-of-friends at the moment. :)

Yep, complete with uncorrected pages! An author around here may have gotten a copy for blurb purposes and is now finished with it.

I'm always up for an active book community!
I've clicked the Request to Join.
Does being kept small so as not to flood f-lists mean don't post about all 15 books I read each month? :D

I spent over $150 on books this month. Had to buy the whole Southern Vampire series. And the Anita Blake vampire hunter series. And there was a $5 box sale at the local bookstore.

Ouch, that puts a big dent in the book budget, doesn't it? I try to keep my book buying down to $100 a month but that gets difficult when all of my favorite authors release books in the same month!
I'm not a big vampire fan and didn't care for the first 3 Anita Blake books but the Southern Vampire books were good. Have you read any books in her other three series? I've got her latest Harper Connelly book coming next week. She's the one that was struck by lightning and now has the ability to find dead people.
