Counting sheep

What do you do when you can't sleep?
I did three miles on the treadmill, straightened up the basement, wii boxing, bowling, and golf, a little, okay - a lot, of playing around on the computer and it's finally time to get leave for work.

This *might* sound silly but I make lists. Sometimes I try to think of all the one-word TV show titles I can think of. I usually give myself a goal, like to name 50 of them. But I never make it to the end of the alphabet before I fall asleep. Watching TV makes me sleepy, too, but that would wake up the husband.

I'll make lists like that at work sometimes when I'm bored out of my mind in a repetitive task.
Shouldn't he be awake anyway? After all, if you can't sleep, why should he? :D

I do self-hypnosis techniques. I almost always fall back to sleep by the time I start telling my shoulders they are 'relaxed and comfortable' (I start at my feet). ;)

I'll try this one tonight. It sounds much better that the one I heard about. You're supposed to tense and then relax one muscle at a time and fall asleep before you're done. That was exercise!

I read some nonfiction, have a bowl of soup, and make sure the TV is off!

Have you tried using a fan? The *whoosh* is relaxing (to me anyway).

Yes, I have an air cleaner that does that. I used that as a kind of "white noise" when I was sleeping days.
