Fireplaces - before and after

The new fireplace is in!!!
Now to do a bit of rearranging and I'll have a nice warm place to curl up with a good book!
And with twelve of them coming this month I'll be spending a lot of time down there!
I also found out that Amazon now gives a pre-order discount so planning ahead does pay off! :) And I realized this morning that I forgot to return two Library books that are now four days overdue. :( I don't even have a good excuse since they even send emails out several days before the books are due.

The fireplace looks so cozy! But it can't be getting warm out there yet, I hope.

It was a bit nippy this morning with frost coating everything when I went out at 5 am this morning. It warmed up into the low 60's this afternoon. The basement usually stays in around 60 in the winter. Way too cold for this baker! :D

Nice icon. Is that your first snowpeople of the year?

Those were actually snow people that we made in Oregon when we lived out there last year. :)

And thank you for recognizing that I meant it can't be getting COLD out there yet. Sometimes I have no idea what I'm writing. :\

Re: Ah Amazaon
You got a lot more snow than I did!_!

Go by what I mean and not by what I say. Yep, said that more times than I care to count! :D

Ah, an insert! More efficient than the old fireplace, I presume?

I hope your library's late fees are as miniscule as ours.

Let's just say that all the heat won't be going up the chimney this year! :) The installers said I needed to leave it on for 2 hours to start with and it's raised the temperature downstairs 6 degrees. It also set off the smoke alarm but they told me to expect that this time only and I had the fan all ready to blow out any smoke.

A quarter a day per book though if I can find that coupon they were handing out in August I may be able to cut it in half.

Thanks. I'll be staying warm if the power goes out this winter!

Re: Ah Amazaon
I'm not sure what you mean.
I've heard people say not to shop at Amazon, that they're putting the independent bookstores out of business but they're just competing with the huge chains like Barnes and Noble (one place I will not shop but that's another story) or Borders.

Re: Ah Amazaon
No. Did not mean it as a put down on Amazon. It's just that whenever I go to Amazon -- I must buy something there. Just like if I go to a book store. Sometimes I feel like I'm a drunk who can't pass a tavern without going inside for "just one more." That's me at a bookstore.
