Later to bed
Later to raise
Gives a late start
To all of those days. :)

Good thing it's just a short 2.4 mile hike up the Cape Lookout Cape Trail...one way. lol Moderate to Difficult, 1 - 2 hour one way hike one way.

*The sun is up, The sky is blue
It's beautiful, And so are you
Dear Prudence, Can you come out to play*
Souixsie & the Banshees
(Yes, it was done by The Beatles first)

I'm not taking the 1.8 mile South Trail down to the beach. One of the Rangers told me about that one. 'Course, they were carrying surfboards back up the hill but, no, that's not going to talk me into trying it. I may go up the North Trail a little ways but not the 2.? miles back down to the State Park that I stopped at last night. (Sorry, Mom. That was one of those unplanned, and therefore unmentioned, stops. I didn't realize there were 2 Cape Lookout stops and thought I'd see what the farther one was like: beach access and campground with the North Trail hooking up with the Trailhead out to the Cape. I did turn around at this sign)

Avoid hiking alone. Oops! But they do have advice if you do run into a bear. lol
Make noise while you hike. I know lots of good songs to sing and many more partial songs! lol Plus I've got the iPod and can sing to all 112 songs on there! :D
Look out, World, I'm in one of those moods today! lololol

A little advice from yesterday's fortunately not mishap:
Don't fall asleep on a sunny afternoon in an outdoor hot tub whose 15 minute timer runs about 30 minutes! It wasn't sunburn! Though I definitely got myself in...hot water! lol

Only 112 songs? What else you got on there aside from the obligatory Dido?

I saw a scary sign once. It said, "Warning: Indian Country." It did not say, "Welcome! Indian Country!" So I was a bit alarmed. We did not, however, turn back.

That's all it will hold. :( I can go through the song list twice before the battery runs out! And just how sad is it that I know that?
I have all 29 Dido songs including several she did with her brother Rollo's band Faithless!! lol Some Bob Seger, Heart, Helen Reddy, Sarah McLachlan, Animotion, Garbage, Foreigner, Elastica, The Eagles, Merril Bainbridge, Meredith Brooks, Leah Andreone, Pink Floyd, and the Gatlin Brothers. Several one song favorites from various artists like Andrew Gold, Terri Jacks, Patrick Hernandez, George Jones, and Waylon Jennings. I don't remember the others right off the top of my head! :D

Yeah, anything that says Warning should make you at least a bit nervous. Hey, I don't have any Pat Benatar on that iPod...nor on the laptop. :(

Do you have the songs saved as AAC or MP3s? I'm just asking because I had all mine as WAVs until I realized that made it hold a lot less. 112 is really quite a lot. But if you use it as much as it sounds like you do, I would get a little bored. :)

I have Pat Benatar! I also have Merrill Bainbridge, Eagles, Pink Floyd, and Foreigner. And possibly Meredith Brooks, but if so, only one song.

Where's your Neil Diamond, compadre?

MP3s.
I have never, never, ever gotten tired of Dido! The other songs do change but the Dido Playlist is forever! :D LOL

If you figure an average of 3.5 minute songs, that's 6.5 hours of music. My battery used to last 12 hours when I first got it but it looks like it's down to a 9 hour charge now. :(

Neil Diamond is still on the LPs. I have yet to convert most of the LPs to CDs. I still have to finish editing the cassette tapes that are in WAV format into MP3s.

I forgot Fiona Apple and Styx on the iPod. Everyone heard me coming when Come Sail Away came on!
*I thought that they were angels,
much to my surprise,
they climbed aboard their starships,
and headed for the skies...*

Doh. :( I use mine in the Tracker, which has a tape player, so I plug it into the AC adapter to continually charge the battery and off I go. I never really listen to it outside of the car.

Do you have the wong "Extraordinary Machine"?

I have to charge mine from the computer which can be a pain when I go on a trip. :( Maybe I should invest in an AC charger.

Nope. All mine were from Tidal.

I don't think the AC adapter was expensive, but I really don't remember what I paid for it. It is extremely handy. I just plug it in and go. Since I have a long commute, this is a very nice thing to have. I recently upgraded from a nano to a regular 4gb (I think 4gb) ipod, and I am so happy with it.

And if you get a chance, take a listen to Extraordinary Machine. It is such a whimsical, catchy song. I love it! I like it better than Shadowboxer!

I've heard that they have complete speaker systems for them now! So the AC charger probably isn't too much.
It charges that fast?
Mine's a 1 GB. I figured at the time that would hold enough music per charge. Ha. And I doubt that they make a big enough iPod to hold all my music! My laptop wasn't big enough to hold all my music :(

I'll do that. I've just put it on hold at my Library. I can probably pick it up after work on Saturday. Work?...Saturday? Argh, my vacation's almost over. But, I'm not ready to go back yet. lol

I have no idea how fast it charges. I leave the adapter in and hook the ipod up to it. Then I play the ipod while it's charging, while I'm driving. It's a good system. :)

Ugh, your vacation is almost over. I feel like I need a vacation, too! Yet...I'm still on leave from work. *zonk*

Ah, a car adapter. :) I need one of those for my phone! :)

Yeah, that 4 hours sleep a night will do it to you...fast. Are you looking into some kind of daycare for when you go back to work?

Yep -- daddy daycare! :D He's already at it, as I've returned part time to start off.

I thought of Eartha Kitt with that song! I liked it and a couple others. I'll have to listen to it a few more times! lol It's different from her other CDs.

It is a departure from her typical music, but I do like it.

By the way, I checked my iPod and I have 27GB in free space. So I guess I don't know what I was talking about from the get-go.

'xtraordinary Machine and Better Version of Me are the two songs that stood out for me right away on the CD.

27 GB free? That's half the hard drive on my laptop. When did they start making iPods with that much memory? Will the battery last longer to play the extra songs? Oh yes it will...up to 40 hours on a charge. That's almost longer than I've stayed awake at one time! I want a new iPod! ...until I saw the price lol

Z thinks mine cost about $240. I bought it straight from Apple's website. There are a lot of things I live without. We don't have cable or satellite TV. We don't have big cell phone plans. We don't have car payments. So this is my splurge. I use that ipod every day of my life. It is very worth it to me. The one I have now you can put videos on it, and I sign up for podcasts so I can listen to those sometimes, too. What a great invention, the ipod.

Yeah, that's about right. I use my iPod mainly for biking, hiking, and yard work - and in that order too! :) so a few hours of music is fine for me 'til I'm home again. I see that big chunk of change and think about how many books I could buy with it! That's my biggest extravagance. Well, besides the M&Ms - which I've managed to do without for a whole month now!!!!

Typing it is one thing but when you start talking it at work, either you're in serious trouble or the students will begin to understand you! *grin*
