That's why S&R are there

Search and Rescue Teams are there for those people who do their best to stay safe while doing the things they enjoy. In this news story, the boat developed a leak off Cannon Beach and they called a mayday into the Coast Guard. The helicopter arrived in time to help the 4 life jacketed men to shore.
It's not for those idiots who, with a blizzard in the forecast, climb into the mountains without the proper equipment. That's a recipe for disaster and they get what they deserve. My opinion, anyway.
I thought it was great to see something good in the news for once. Well, maybe not so much for the boat owner...

I don't know where he started out at but IMDB says he hitchhiked up to the Alaska wilderness...if we're talking about the same movie. :)

That was Alaska? Huh. I thought he was in California and then Oregon? I obviously don't know what I'm talking about, though. Sorry!

I've never heard of either of them! Guess I need to pull my head out of my books once in a while, huh? :)
Goonies and Kindergarten Cop are the only two movie titles I remember being made in Astoria.

Astoria? Is that where Without a Paddle takes place?

I thought you lived by Gresham, though, right? My dad thinks you might live in southwest Portland? I have no idea why he thinks that, but he has a gut feeling. :D

I don't know where Without a Paddle was shot.
Edit to add: IMDB lists filming locations in New Zealand!
I'm west-southwest of Gresham and southeast of southwest Portland :D
That sure cleared things up, huh? lol
Basically I'm on the east bank of the Willamette River where the Clackamas River flows into it. (about 10 - 15 miles south of Portland)
