Renaming the streets of Portland

Several years ago Portland decided to change the name of Union Ave to Martin Luther King Blvd, spending I don't how how much time and money to do so. Last year, they wanted to rename N. Interstate Avenue Cesar Chavez Avenue. That proposal failed so they're trying again this year following the proper rules in the City Code to do so.
Now a science fiction group of friends in NE Portland are using the same tactics to try and rename 42nd Ave after Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. After all, what better street to rename Douglas Adams Ave. than the answer to the "Ultimate Question?" What's the Ultimate Question, you ask? The question given to Deep Thought (a computer) was: What is the answer to "Life, the Universe, and Everything?" After 7.5 million years, the computer comes up with the answer: 42.
If they want to hold events and things to raise money to change the name; fine, knock yourselves out. But don't waste any more of our tax dollars on frivolous things like this. Though I'd vote for Douglas Adams over Cesar Chavez, whom I've never even heard of, if I had to choose one! Why don't you just name a new street? We've got several new streets over here as more developments spring up.
