QQ oops!

Well, I got my baking done; not that it turned out well. Grr|
I must not have been completely awake yet because I hit the wrong button on the oven. You can't bake brownies on convection must be convection bake or bake. Needless to say...the top and bottom are done! and the inside's...not quite soup. So sad, too bad, don't do it again! They still taste good though. The casseroles turned out well but the cookies...I didn't add the extra flour needed for substituting butter for shortning and they spread way out. They're okay, just not what I like: crispy cookies instead of chewy cookies. That's what I get for making a different kind of choc. chip cookie than I usually do and NOT updating the old recipe before starting.

On the plus side, I found out that with a convection oven I can bake 2 trays at once. Use the 2nd & 4th shelves and get done twice as fast! *Happy dance!*

Amendment of Life finished

I just finished the book #19 Amendment of Life by Catherine Aird. I rate it a 7.
Detective Inspector C. D. Sloan of the Calleshire CID is used to the occasional oddity in his relatively quiet part of the English countryside. But lately things have taken a strange turn. First, in the center of a yew maze that is the showpiece of the Tudor-era house, Aumerle Court, a body is spotted by Miss Daphne Pedlings, the elderly chatelaine of the Court. by the time the groundskeeper actually makes it to the center, he, too, spies the body, and it is indeed dead.
Meanwhile, a few miles away, a slaughtered rabbit is left on the Bishop's doorstep in nearby Calleford, an omen as portentous as the body in the maze. Now Inspector Sloan, with the somewhat trying personage of Constable Crosby in tow, must uncover what precisely is going on as they launch an investigation with more twists and turns than the maze itself.
