The Princess Mage

How do you talk about a sequel without spoilers from the first book?
To begin with, just knowing that there's a sequel means that the main character made it through. Yeah, yeah, okay, how many books have you read where the main character doesn't make it through to the end of the book? Besides Curtain and Sleeping Murder. Whoops, anyone not read Agatha Christie here? You didn't hear that.

Anyway, I stayed up way past my bedtime on a worknight to finish The Princess Mage by Maggie L. Wood. It's a fantastic (obviously, or I would have been in bed much sooner!) YA fantasy. In the first book, The Princess Pawn, you meet 14 year old Willow who's just trying to fit in at school. Right about then she finds out her grandmother, who she lives with, is not her grandmother and she's not really from Earth but another realm called Mistolear. Plus, she's a princess there and it's up to her to save her family and their kingdom from an evil enchantment.
In The Princess Mage, Willow is adjusting to or rather trying to adjust to life as a princess in Mistolear. With her mother steadily getting weaker from a mysterious illness that the Court Healers can't cure and Willow learning healer magic herself, she is summoned to the Elf Council where she must help the Elf Queen keep the Balance of Power on the side of Light. Using what little healing magic she has learned, will she be able to survive the Goblin's Gauntlet or will the Demon Host defeat her?
Fast paced and a quick read with a surprising twist at the end. I can't wait for the next book!

Hi Allyson
I don't consider it stalker-ish or weird. I do the same thing. :-) I'd love to have you join us in the community. I started it as a place to talk about any book you wanted instead of just a specific genre. Most of the communities that I found active were posting about specific types of books and I read all sorts of different things.
Come on over and join us. Talk about the books you want to read, are reading, or are planning to read or just sit back and read the posts. Post about your favorite book(s), author(s), or even speculate about what's going to happen next in a series you're reading (though that last one or any spoilers should be behind an lj-cut for those who haven't read the books).
